Typically I try to remove grain and noise from photos but I like it here.
This is the header
Light and dark
Sometimes rain brings out a richness that’s too good to pass up. This is another photo I took in color but saw in black and white.
Drive-by Sunset
Someday I’ll force myself to actually stop, compose and take a proper photo of the sunsets on the hill. But this will have to do for now… (Holding my phone up to the car window and shooting through it) as I drive down the road. That being said, it still came out pretty well 🙂
Succulents
Rain, rain…
What to do on a rainy day? Photograph droplets. I’m not sure how successful this image is but it was fun capturing it. I used a long-focus lens wide open to create the shallow depth of field. 1/100 of a second shutter speed to allow the drops to streak.
f8
This is just a simple still-life photo. As it worked out an aperture of f8 really looked the best. I shot everything between f2.8 and f32.
Signs of spring
Shot at the equivalent of 416mm, ISO 200, 1/15 of a second at F8, laying on my belly.
It’s the light…
Again, noontime light is awful for photos. But that’s when I was able to get out. So what does one do during this time of day? Roll with it. In meandering around the cemetery I found this old stone which caught my attention. It’s not fancy or overtly special, but the way the light raked across the surface really caught me. And apparently, during this time of year, I’m on a black and white kick.
Chromatic Aberration a.k.a. Purple Fringing
While not a spectacular or creative photo by any means, I was really surprised by how much Chromatic Aberration was visible in this shot.
(The photo used in the banner has the CA removed…)
It was taken on a bright and clear day around noon, so the light was pretty terrible (harsh) for photos, but that being said the amount of fringing on the original image was a shocker. Here’s a copy of the original image with the CA. Checkout the highlights in the flourishes on the top of the column under the word “School”.
As you can see lightroom did a really good job removing/reducing this “purple fringing” in my banner image.
